Meeting with The Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs NS
AFP-AAC and NCVA meet and present to the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs for the Government of NS. Each organization presented their association and prepared for over 2 hours of questions and answers. The committee asked very pertinent questions and had a genuine interest in Veterans Benefits, focused mainly on Marriage After 60. At the end of our meeting, the Committee thanked each organization for our contribution to their education and understanding of the current situation with Marriage After 60. From our meeting, the committee is preparing their support for AFP-AAC and NCVA's need to have VAC drop the clause from legislation based on lack of communications and severe negative impact on spousal benefits
L’AFP-AAC et la NCVA ont rencontré le Comité permanent des affaires des anciens combattants du gouvernement de la Nouvelle-Écosse et ont présenté leurs observations. Chaque organisation a présenté ses activités et s’est préparée à une séance de questions-réponses de plus de deux heures. Le comité a posé des questions très pertinentes et a manifesté un intérêt sincère pour les prestations aux anciens combattants, notamment en ce qui concerne le mariage après 60 ans. À la fin de la réunion, le comité a remercié chaque organisation pour sa contribution à la sensibilisation et à la compréhension de la situation actuelle relative au mariage après 60 ans. Suite à cette réunion, le comité se prépare à appuyer la demande de l’AFP-AAC et de la NCVA visant à ce qu’Anciens Combattants Canada retire la clause du projet de loi en raison du manque de communication et de ses graves répercussions sur les prestations aux conjoints.

AFP-AAC has advocated for pension policy changes for new legislation affecting military pensions, initiated or implemented by the Canadian Government. AFP-AAC continues to advocate for changes to the Marriage After 60 legislation and new rules from VAC's changes a few years ago. More details will follow periodically...
L’AFP-AAC a milité pour des modifications aux politiques de retraite suite à la nouvelle législation touchant les pensions militaires, initiée ou mise en œuvre par le gouvernement canadien. L’AFP-AAC poursuit ses efforts pour obtenir des changements à la loi sur le mariage après 60 ans et aux nouvelles règles découlant des modifications apportées par Anciens Combattants Canada il y a quelques années. AFP-AAC will provide its existing members from 2023 to 2025 the opportunity to participate in the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) to approve the financial auditing from the past three years, and also a vote on the status of the association going forward.
L'AFP-AAC offrira à ses membres actuels de 2023 à 2025 la possibilité de participer à la prochaine assemblée générale annuelle (AGA) pour approuver l'audit financier des trois dernières années, ainsi qu'un vote sur le statut de l'association pour l'avenir.
